| there are often mitigating facts to their stories that they like to leave out... beating on the trans when not broken in dumping the factory break in fluid from the start for no reason poor pedal adjustment clutch pedal hydralics being in need of bleeding/replacement etc etc In short just because a transmission grinds (new or old) doesn't mean that the trans internals are bad - there are lots of possible factors. I've installed several of the 98+ spec units and sold & shipped more, I have not had problems with them. I would say with out a doubt that the amount of people that have installed the 98+ trans and have had zero issues with them FAR out numbers the handful of folks that have have problems (self induced or otherwise)
